Question 1: Describe the project you just finished
What materials I used
Before I drew this picture I colored in the negatives of a picture on a handout that is similar to the picture to the left. I then drew the negatives that I had identified in the handout onto a blank piece of paper. I finished the work off by then adding the extra lines in order to make it look like a stool.
This picture was a group effort by the friends at my table. I first drew the red 'wave-like' line, then each of my group members added their own choice of a line in order to make create some sort of art piece. Mine ended up looking like a smiling face.
This drawing was created by following specific instructions from the professor. For example, we were asked to draw 5 circles that were all different sizes, then we were asked to colour one in lightly and one in with more pressure, and so forth until we had a drawing with a variety of shapes, lines, and colour.
I drew this picture without looking at it. The drawing was done by estimating and guessing, we attempted to start in the corner of the page, the professors traced a shape on the overhead and we were to follow his path on our own page without looking at what we were actually doing.
For this picture, I made small circular motions using coal to create a man jumping in the air.
This is a drawing of an outline of a person. I first split the page into 8 equal rows and the 3 equal columns. I used the rectangles and lines I created to place dots on specific locations, I then connected the dots to create an outline of a person. I then added a few more details to represent the head, the torso and the lower half of the body.
This picture shows distant perspectives, the left side shows a perspective of multiple trees and the right side shows a distant perspective of buildings.
Question 2: Describe one new thing you learned through making this project, or looking at and discussing the project from various cultures.
This week I learned the concept of negatives in a picture, I learned that using negative space means defining the shape by the tone that surrounds the actual shape. In other words, the negative is the space that is occupied outside of the figure.

Question 3: Describe how you have communicated a specific idea through making this project.
Through the use of drawing lines, I communicated the idea of figure motion. The first picture I communicated the idea of a stool by drawing the negative lines of the original figure. In picture 4, I communicated the idea of motion drawing without removing my marker off the page or looking to see what I was drawing, instead, I used my sense of moving to move my marker across the page in a specific motion. Finally, in picture 7, I communicated the idea of distant perspective by first drawing diagonal, horizontal and vertical lines to represent a scene in the distant, and then adding in the detail of the trees and building.

Question 4: Describe what you enjoyed the most about this project and the least.
I enjoyed being able to create new shapes and figures from drawing different types of lines. I enjoyed exaiming the picture that was created after either following a motion without looking at the page or following instructions to draw random shapes and colouring them in as we were told, and using lines to create a perspective of other shapes. Finally, I enjoyed using the coal to create a figure because it was extremely smooth and glided across the page.

Question 5: If you were to do this project again, what might you change to make it more successful
I do not think I would change anything if I were to do this again, I would, however, add in another piece where students can use as many different types of lines as they chose to create a picture of their choice.
